Thread Up Oxford: Reducing Landfill Waste, One Donation at a Time
Every month, Thread Up Oxford receives approximately 2 tons of donated textile material—equivalent to the weight of an adult male bison! That’s 4,000 pounds of textiles diverted from landfills through redistribution, upcycling, and recycling efforts.
However, managing this volume takes significant resources. It costs Thread Up Oxford about $2.84 per pound to process, sort, and recycle these donations—and countless volunteer hours.
How can you help?
Volunteer: 2 tons is a lot of material! Volunteers can stop by Thread Up Oxford (5156 College Corner Pike) Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 4 PM to help sort and process textile donations.
Donate: Your financial support ensures these materials are reused responsibly.
Keep Donating Textiles: Together, we can reduce the landfill burden and create a more sustainable future.
If you have a group that would like to volunteer with us please reach out to info@threadupoxford.org, weekend times are available!

As many as 1 million species will disappear from planet earth because of human activities. So how do we create beautiful landscapes that support the pollinators, herbivores, detritivores, predators and parasitoids that run the ecosystems we depend on? Renowned entomologist, author, & native plant expert Doug Tallamy will remind us during this in-person presentation of the many essential roles insects play, and describe the simple changes we must make in our landscapes and our attitudes to keep insects on the ground, in the air and yes, on our plants.
